A story about the struggle of the International Ladies Clothing Workers' Union (ILGWU) to establish the Roxton Fashions sweatshirt shop union in the New York fashion district. Lee J. Cobb plays Walter Mitchell, the owner of a company that is determined to shut out unions. His partner disagrees and only wants the workers to have a living wage. He died in an accident. Kerwin Mathews plays his son Alan, who returned to New York after a long absence. He did not understand his father's angry resistance to the union and expressed sympathy for it.
